Press Release
Also could you please mention that Casey Zygmont Jr. is missing from the picture? Thank you, Pete
The Town of Niagara is participating in the Hometown Heroes banner program. Town of Niagara historian Pete Ames, Casey Zygmont Jr., Vietnam War veteran, Tom "Doc" Tierney and his wife Nancy along with Judge John Teixeira are preparing to put up the first 12 banners that represent Town of Niagara residents who have served in each of the wars that the US has been involved in. Those twelve will be displayed on the poles along the road that leads in to Veterans Park from the Revolutionary War on up to Afghanistan. They will hang until November and then be taken down until they go back up in the spring. Another 35 are ready to order once we get all of the pertinent information, and they will all go up around Memorial Day 2021. For more information, please call Pete at 297-4429, Tom/Nancy at 297-9109, or John at 228-0762. Participating Veterans have to have lived in the Town of Niagara at some point in their lives.
Hometown Heroes
Would you like to be a part of the latest Town of Niagara project that honors our military men and women? We will be hanging banners throughout the Town of Niagara that contain a photo, veterans name, branch of service and the name of the sponsor(s). If you are interested in participating, please reach out to Tom/Nancy Tierney at 297-9109, John Teixeira at 228-0762, or Town of Niagara historian, Pete Ames at 297-4429. Any of us can provide you with an application. Once you fill in the information, let us know and we can pick up the application along with a photo and a check for $150. Pete will scan the photo and return it to you. If you have any military paperwork, Pete would like to make a copy of it for the future. There again, the originals will be returned to you after he scans them.
