Media advisory for 12 noon Wednesday
First responders, city officials to
salute Memorial’s patient care workers
Mayor Robert Restaino will join Niagara Falls police officers, firefighters and city officials outside Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center on Wednesday for a noontime salute to nurses and other staff members caring for COVID-19 patients during the current pandemic.
Plans call for first responders and other city representatives to line up across the street from the medical center while respecting social distancing at 12 noon to applaud the staff in a show of heartfelt support.
“Wednesday is the first day of Nurses Week, which seems like a perfect time to show Memorial’s nurses how much we appreciate them,” said Mayor Restaino.
“It’s also an opportunity for the city’s police officers and firefighters to show their respect and give thanks for the dangerous work being performed and the sacrifices being made by all of Memorial’s frontline responders – nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, housekeeping staff and others who have responded so courageously to this public health emergency.”
Media coverage is invited.
