WHY: For the sixth consecutive year, Community Missions will take part in #GivingTuesday, which encourages people to dedicate a day to giving back to others during the holiday season. This is in response to the consumerism prevalent during the holidays, and particularly, the week following Thanksgiving in particular, thanks to “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday.”
This year, Community Missions has partnered with several organizations to meet needs:
[if !supportLists]· [endif]Leadership Niagara will bring 100 high school students to the Mission to learn about servant leadership. Approximately 40-50 students will be in attendance on Nov. 27, with the remaining 40-50 coming in the following Tuesday, Dec. 4.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]Niagara University’s Vincentian Scholars will arrive bright and early to prepare breakfast for those at the Mission, beginning at 6:30 a.m.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]Community Volunteers from Niagara Falls Target and others will arrive Tuesday morning to take part in a service project.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]Nine local restaurants will donate a portion of #GivingTuesday’s proceeds to the Mission throughout the week. These include Parkway Prime, Anchor Bar, Bella Vista Ristorante, Rainforest Café, TGI Friday’s, Chill 443, Power City Eatery, The Village Bake Shoppe, LongHorn Steakhouse (Please visit http://www.communitymissions.org/dining-for-dollars for details.)
