The Mount St. Mary’s Hospital Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center has surpassed 2,200 patient visits in 2018. Nationally accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Cardiac Rehabilitation is an outpatient exercise reconditioning program. Classes meet three times weekly and are approximately one hour long. Classes include telemetry monitoring of heart rate and rhythm, blood pressure measurements, education on such topics as risk factor modification, heart related issues, lifestyle modification/prevention and dietary consultation with certified dietician.
Department Manager Andrew Schultz said there is regular communication between the patient’s physicians and staff to monitor patient’s progress. This program is designed to benefit individuals who have had one or more of the following: Coronary bypass/valve surgery, coronary stent, heart attack, heart failure and angina.
