New York Power Authority President and CEO Gil Quiniones and NYPA Regional Manager for Western New York Harry Francois will join NYPA staff and elected officials to celebrate the halfway mark of a $460 million infrastructure upgrade project at the Lewiston Pump Generating Plant, part of NYPA’s Niagara Power Project. A new, 68-ton, 15-foot wide and 9-foot high turbine runner that is being replaced will be on display. The multiyear plant modernization program allows NYPA to continue to provide low-cost power as well as power proceeds to businesses in Western New York and across the state that are tied to commitments to more than 400,000 jobs and nearly $33 million in capital investments that will positively impact the state’s economy.
