NIAGARA FALLS, NY – The Niagara Community Center is open for business. This athletic and educational facility is a collaboration of Niagara Catholic Jr. / Sr. High School, The Niagara Falls Boys & Girls Club, Niagara University, and The Police Athletic League.
“The Niagara Community Center is truly about serving youth in our area” said Gary Hall, president of the The Niagara Board of Trustees. “We’re open and excited to be getting started. Our dream is to see this place making a positive impact on young people in our community for years to come”.
The Niagara will offer numerous youth programs and services through collaboration with the partner organizations. Programs will be focused on five core areas:
Education and career
Character development and leadership
Health and life skills
Arts and creativity
Sports and fitness
The Niagara is a 21,600 square foot mixed-use facility with indoor and outdoor space for athletics, arts and education, built on a 1.3-acre parcel of land behind NCHS. Cannon Design designed the project. Features include multisport surfaces for tennis, cheerleading lacrosse, soccer, volleyball and other athletic programs. Fundraising is on-going to build classroom space and a mezzanine area for viewing.
Robert Cluckey President / Principal of Niagara Catholic Jr. / Sr. High School said “The ‘Niagara’ represents an extraordinary investment and commitment to Niagara Catholic Jr/Sr High School. Our students will benefit from this incredible facility for decades to come. We are profoundly grateful to Gary and Brian Hall for establishing and leading innovative partnership”.
Rebecca Vincheski CPO of the Niagara Falls Boys & Girls Club said ““The Niagara Falls Boys & Girls Club is excited and proud to be part of such an amazing collection of partners all of which have a passion for serving the youth of our City. The opportunity this building is giving our organization, our kids and our families is priceless. We are thrilled to call this our new home for Niagara Stealth Cheerleading and our gymnastics program.”
Arthur Eberhart Executive Director of Niagara Police Athletic League said “Gary Hall's vision and dedication has created an outstanding complex, The Niagara Community Center, for the youth of the Niagara Community. It will allow organizations like Niagara PAL to not only expand existing programs for "our kids," but will allow all youth that want to participate in positive endeavors the opportunity to be involved and active”.
“We believe the best way to improve our community is through education. Providing students with the opportunity to not only enjoy the benefits that come from participating in athletics but also to improve their skills in the classroom will help them achieve success. This is an exciting time for our area and I’m proud to be a part of it” said Brian Hall, business teacher and coach and Niagara Catholic High School and board member of “The Niagara”.
