Niagara Falls, NY - Decon Al Amato, with the Armenian Churches of Niagara Falls, says a prayer at Oakwood Cemetery as part of American Remembrance Day.
Press Release:
The Armenian Community of Western New York will come together once again at Oakwood Cemetery to offer memorial prayers for the more than 600 descendants of their, parents, grandparents and others who escaped the Genocide of the Armenian people in 1915, and are interred there. 2015 marked the 100-year anniversary of this tragic event.
The national flag of Armenia will be placed throughout the cemetery.
Deacon Albert Amato will offer prayers for the peaceful repose of the souls of those more than 600 Armenians buried there.
In 2015 the Armenian Apostolic Church canonized the more than 1 & ½ million Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide. They are now Saints of the Church.
At the conclusion, the Deacon will give a word of explanation and ask all present to join in praying the Prayer of Intercession to the newly Canonized Saints, ranked among them the ancestors of the souls laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery.
